Wirepony

The 10th Anniversary REMASTERED EP!

"Home on the Strange, the very first Wirepony release, originally debuting on October 16, 2007, was for me a determined flurry of sound and creative explosion. Looking back 10 years later I'm proud of and just a bit mystified by this record, it happened so quickly. When it was recorded there had been several years of silence from me with an aborted attempt at an earlier LP. Then this one burst out from a crop of demos recorded in just a few days in the front room of my house while my kids slept. With great encouragement from Christopher Hoffee, who co-produced and engineered HOTS, these songs came to life during a week long session at his Chaos Recorders, the studio that would soon become the home to everything that we as the Truckee Brothers would soon do together. It seemed odd at times, ragged at others but I felt that it successfully pulsed and tremoloed with a mysticism and a dark intimacy that I'd been trying to actualize for years in my songwriting and only ever achieved in the demos. That I was lucky enough to enlist the help of friends David J Carpenter and Bryan Head who were, at the time, John Doe's of 'X' rhythm section, was a huge bonus and the appearance of my future wife Cindy Wassserman and her 'Dead Rock West' bandmate and my childhood friend Frank Lee Drennen adding their voices to the record just added the extra dimension it needed. The results became the first note in the Wirepony story which would go on to involve a rotating cast of musicians, collaborators and adventures that just may still have a chapter or two yet to write. Stranger things have happened." - Patrick Dennis, Oct 16, 2017
