Details on my upcoming solo exhibition in Woodstock, NY!

Ever Records Presents: “I Exist In You(r
… Record Collection)” on Sept 21st at 4pm in Woodstock, NY. The show will run through Oct 1.

There will be music, paintings, great people and more to be announced. I started working on pieces for this show inspired by some of my favorite records (since ever records is one of my favorite vinyl record shops), but it is taking on a life of its own. There is darkness, empathy, passion, humor, physics, space, humor, adventure and a search for duende in these paintings. I feel very honored to be able to show and share them for the first time in the community that I live in now. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!

The show will explore my lifelong fascination with fragmented visuals and how they can evoke deep emotion, a hallmark of his work as a commercial creative; parts, elements, deconstructed, still full of life and inspired by the music around me, as both a fan and a recording artist.

My paintings, best described as Abstract Figurative, are deconstructions of the nature of the human body and emotion through paint and canvas. I like to approach them as a reverse Rorschach test, taking shape like a song coming to life as I uncover them.

And it’s all happening in one of my favorite vinyl record shops so I’m taking inspiration from some of my favorite records, my own writings and releases, mythology, life, current events, and my own dark corners to explore what the phrase ‘I Exist In You’ might mean, letting the mediums and pieces stay unpredictable, even to me. I’m electrified by just ‘making stuff’, feeling my way through, similar to making records; having no agenda except gathering the tools and following the feeling. How it all plays as a collection of “songs” is just a matter of what ends up feeling right.”

New Hudson Valley resident, Recording & Visual artist, Patrick Michael Dennis, was a member of bands Truckee Brothers & Wirepony in the 2000s and has continued a solo career since. He was a visual artist before rock n roll took him away touring but continued to act as a creative director alongside the music. He debuted his first ever public exhibition ‘Fürst Art Show’ last September at Modern Druid Gallery in Nyack featuring work that was created in an effort to finally get himself sober. It worked.
